Frequently Asked QuestionS

Change is Possible When You Truly Know Yourself

  • I like to use analogies and metaphors to make connections. Think about mental health in the same way you would think about physical health. There are many different ways to address physical health but there are simple inputs and outputs- what you consume (inputs) and how you process it through activity (outputs). Mental health is the same. There are many different ways to address it but there are simple inputs and outputs- what you consume through your senses (inputs) and how you process it through your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors (outputs). The major difference is physical health is objective (measurable) through weight, body fat, heart rate, etc. Mental health is subjective (not measurable) through thoughts, feelings and emotional states. Another major difference is that what you consume through your senses can stay with you for a long time, unlike food. This is why processing these inputs are important to healthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

  • Sticking with the analogy of mental health and physical health- when would see a trainer/coach versus a physical therapist? There is some overlap but they both provide different, valuable services. Would you see a physical therapist for years and expect physical growth or improved physical performance? Probably not. Would you see a trainer/coach for years without addressing your physical injuries? Probably not. In both examples, your physical progress is going to limited by a singular skillset.

  • Absolutely! Self-Awareness and Subconscious work is not specific to sex. This work is about the human condition- you create your subjective reality in your head and you live in your reactions like it’s objective reality. My work is about freeing you from your self-imposed beliefs that keep you stuck.

  • Subjective: “based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.” Objective: “not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.” For example: I’m fat (subjective). I weigh 220 pounds (objective). There is nothing wrong with being subjective and there is nothing right with being objective, and vice-versa. But it is absolutely crucial to deeply understand that you have a choice in your subjective reality that you call life. This is the foundation of self-awareness and making your subconscious conscious.

  • There are many factors and variables, of course. Factors are things like age, environment, and childhood. Variables are things like work ethic, availability, and openness. These factors and variables have ranges and are different for everyone given the day. No judgment. There isn’t a right way or a wrong way to be for this work. Some people get what they’re needing in one month. While others get what they’re needing after three months but continue to schedule sessions to implement further change. While others schedule sessions along with their own therapy. It’s not uncommon for this self-awareness and subconscious work to be a catalyst for faster change in therapy. These people are able to have freeing breakthroughs because they are no longer trying to fix themselves because they’ve finally gotten to know themselves and realize they were never broken.

  • Conversational. You talk; I listen. You articulate what’s in your head and what you’re feeling. Language provides a lot of context clues about what you believe and what you’re dealing with. I listen. I hear things that you don’t pick up on and we start to get to know you without judgment. You find out why you are the way you are and you find out why you do what you do.

We’ll go through recent events and circumstances. We’ll go through childhood events and circumstances. And we’ll start to put the “puzzle pieces” together.

The result is a macro view of yourself and your beliefs. It’s like a fish out of water. The result is liberation from mental constraints to live in the moment with intention.

  • Once a week. This cadence works best for most people who work with me 1-3 months. Some clients start having sessions every other week. The goal is complete agency so you are self sufficient and not reliant on anyone external for your mental health.

  • I do not take insurance.

Insurance often requires a mental health diagnosis to cover services. This requirement does not align with the coaching approach, which focuses on personal development and doesn’t involve diagnosing mental health conditions.

Furthermore, coaching is often seen as a service that focuses on personal and professional development rather than treating medical conditions. This distinction means that insurance coverage is generally not applicable to coaching services.

  • This is a question for your tax professional or accountant to confirm for your situation.

However, in many cases, coaching can be considered a business expense. Self-awareness and subconscious coaching will impact your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in all areas of your life, including work/career. Some clients talk specifically about work related subjects and the perceptions and meaning they’re generating from these events and circumstances.

  • Yes. My intention is to be of service. If your financial situation is challenging, contact me to be added to a first-come, first-serve waiting list.

  • You’ll get results after our first session. Unlike physical health which takes time and consistency, you can change your mind in an instant.

However, there is a great quote that sums up the self-awareness and subconscious work- “Not even the greatest guru in the world can take a single step for you.” -Anthony De Mello

  • Everyone can benefit from truly getting to know themselves.

There is no better way to improve your relationships than by improving the way way you relate to yourself, and this comes through thorough understanding of yourself and where you came from (your parents).

  • In the simplest terms- who are you?

This question is the root of true spirituality. I am not talking about your self concept; this is created from beliefs that are built from words and experiences. Perhaps you have heard something like,“you are not your thoughts and you are not your feelings.” Thoughts and feelings are objects, you are not them. You are the subject that is aware of the objects. You are the awareness. Self-awareness is aware that you are aware. To build a relationship with something other than your self-concept allows you to loosen your attachment to the concept of self.

  • In the simplest terms- you generate meaning about everything.

This is where your reactions and preferences come from. Someone says-whatever-they-say or does-whatever-they-do and you subconsciously generate what-that-means-about-you and you live in that subconscious reaction.

  • Mindfulness is being present in the moment in front of you and being out of reaction. In other words, you are not living in your head. Mindfulness is a result of self-awareness and making your subconscious conscious.

  • I do! I give speeches, I work with executive/leadership teams, I lead workshops, etc. These have all been private, corporate events but feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss your ideas for your group or organization.

“Mental health” still has a stigma that I predict will be completely redefined in the coming decades and I look forward to being a part of that change. Similar to “Physical Health” which gave birth in the 70’s and continues to grow and change today.

  • Sessions are conducted virtually through Zoom for the following benefits. However, if you are in the Austin, Texas area, we will likely meet in-person as schedules permit.

Convenience: eliminates the need for commuting, making it highly convenient for individuals with busy schedules or those living in remote areas.

Accessibility: breaks down geographical barriers, allowing individuals to access services from far away. This widens the scope for finding the right professional to suit your needs.

Flexibility: offers more flexible scheduling options, accommodating different time zones and varying work or personal commitments.

Comfort & Privacy: being in your own space can enhance comfort and openness during sessions. For some, it may feel easier to express thoughts and feelings from a familiar environment, thus promoting a greater level of transparency.

Continuity: ensures continuity in receiving support even during travel, illness, or adverse weather conditions, maintaining regularity in sessions.

  • If you’re seeking to understand yourself better, are open to self-exploration, and are willing to commit to personal growth, self-awareness and subconscious coaching will likely be a rewarding experience for you.

  • This depends on our availability syncing up but usually within a couple days. The first step is setting up an intro call (which you can do here). On this Zoom call we’ll speak about you, get to know each other, and answer any questions you have. Before the end of the call we’ll decide on the day/time to have our first session.
